As a photographer and digital artist, I always strive to look for the different or unique - and when I can't find what I need, I go to work and create it. These textures are the result of my search for suitable textures for a variety of purposes. Although these texture files were created for use in 3D rendering programs such as Bryce or Blender, they have many other uses, such as backgrounds and integration into other types of images and collage work.  If you are looking to try out creating some of your own texture files, start with some of these and manipulate them into something different by using one of these textures or backgrounds and adding your own touches or creative process - from one free texture you could turn out three or four files for your own use.  Make your own portrait backgrounds, use them for book or cd covers - be creative and have fun.

Some of the smaller image files may not work as well for larger imaging, but many of the larger ones will work for backgrounds and overlays. Try some of these in Photoshop, or Corel Paint, Paint Shop Pro, or even some of the free and open source software programs like Photobie, Paint.net, or PhotoFiltre (see our software page for links to freeware and open source software) - and don't forget to check our photoshop templates and photoshop-frames pages.
