Abstracts are a good way to add interest to backgrounds for "printables" too. Use them as backgrounds for your greeting cards, posters, book or CD cover designs and add a blast of colour and depth to ordinary design layouts. Many of the larger files will make good framed prints, or prints on canvas - add a touch of the unique to your decor.
If you are just starting out or learning how to edit images or create graphics, you might want to try some of these free graphic editing softwares - these are either free, or open source (there is a difference, but all are free to download and use) - while I have in fact used some of these, I haven't tried them all: The Gimp - highly acclaimed as being the "free" photoshop; Paint.Net - well known and easy to learn for most beginners; Photobie - multi-purpose and fun graphic & photo editing program; PhotoFiltre - a close second to Gimp and Photoshop if you purchase the Studio version, however they have a free version that's also good for beginners; FreeImage Editor - simple, and free. For anyone wanting to design greeting cards, try DigiLabs (see upper left), or this freebie: Kigo Photo Card Maker
Abstract-designs are multi-purpose, so you can use these in your 3D rendering program, a game design engine, photoshop or any other image or graphic editing program. They work well for blending with images to create a collage or compiled image, and can be used as web backgrounds for sites, or headers. If you can "think it" you can probably do it with an abstract as part of the completed piece.
If you have any questions, or special requests for abstract-designs, please feel free to contact us. We'll be happy to try and provide for your needs. Don't forget to check the other texture styles while you're here - or check the royalty free (free!) stock photos section - you may find photos that you can crop textures out of for your game designs, or for web buttons.
